Most innings, most pitches.

Yokohama BayStars right-hander Trevor Bauer, a former Cy Young Award winner, got his first win in just over a month. On March 3, he pitched eight innings of two-run ball against the Seibu Lions in interleague play at Yokohama Stadium in Kanagawa Prefecture. He faced 29 batters, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out 10.

He pitched the most innings and threw the most pitches (109) in a single game in Nippon Professional Baseball. Earned his first win on May 3 against the Hiroshima Carp in his debut, and his second win in four games and a month.

In the first inning, he gave up back-to-back singles to the first two batters he faced. Unlike the previous game, he didn’t falter. He retired the top three and four batters with consecutive singles to get out of the jam.

He struck out Shuta Donosaki at third and Genta Watanabe at fourth on a swinging strike. He fired a 155-mile-per-hour low fastball outside and a 152-mile-per-hour high-court two-seamer inside.

He struck out the side in order in the second and third innings before giving up his first run in the fourth.

One out later, he gave up a solo home run 스포츠토토 to left field to Donosaki. The 152-mile-per-hour fastball was driven into the middle of the strike zone. First pitch, first home run.

After a scoreless fifth through seventh, Bauer gave up another home run in the eighth. A 137-mile-per-hour cut fastball to pinch-hitter Shota Hiranuma was in the middle of the strike zone. Hiranuma didn’t miss it, pulling it over the right field fence.

It was his second straight quality start (at least six innings pitched, no earned runs allowed) after giving up seven runs in two innings at Hiroshima on May 16.

Bauer had given up a home run in all five of his starts prior to this one. In 29 innings pitched, he has given up a total of nine home runs.

With the 6-2 win, Yokohama won three of the four games in the exchange.
