Jeju’s Lee Chang-min ‘on the verge of enlisting’ for June 3 home farewell game against Gangwon Jeonseo
Jeju United midfielder Lee Chang-min (29) of the K League 1 Jeju United will play a home farewell game on June 3 before enlisting in the military.
Lee will enlist in the military on June 12 and perform his military service as a social service worker for Geoje Citizens Football Club in the K4 League. Ahead of this, Jeju will specially decorate the Hana One Q K League 2023 Round 16 home match against Gangwon FC on June 3 at 7 p.m. at Jeju World Cup Stadium as a farewell match for Lee Chang-min.
Jeju will show a special video of Lee Chang-min’s performance after the match. Afterward, Lee will personally say goodbye to the home fans and give them high fives.
Lee has played 202 games for Jeju (178 토토사이트 in K League 1 and 24 in K League 2), surpassing the club’s record for most appearances (Kim Ki-dong – 274). With Jeju, Lee has led the club to the 2017 K League 1 runners-up spot, the 2017 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) Round of 16, and the 2020 K League 2 title.
After the home farewell game, Lee will play against the Pohang Steelers on June 6 and Ulsan Hyundai on June 10 before enlisting two days later.
“I’ve been living in Jeju for eight years, and Jeju is my other home,” Lee said, adding, “I want to win all three remaining matches and enlist. I don’t want to come back as a culled player, so I want to show good form while I’m away from Jeju. After I finish my military service well, I want to break the record for the most appearances for a Jeju club.”
